Dr. Larsen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography of the State University of New York, University at Buffalo, and a research scientist with the National Center of Geographic Information and Analysis. He has long standing research interests in reconstructing and modeling the spatial and temporal relations between climate change, wildfire activity and forest composition over the past 1000 years. He has more recent research interests in conservation biogeography and applying GIS / RS and paleoecological methods to provide reference conditions for ecological restoration. He teaches courses in Physical Environmental Geography, Global Warming, Landscape Ecology and Environmental Change.
