Mineral Bluff quadrangle, GA-NC-TN

With Scott Freundschuh and Max Egenhofer. (Matt was ill.)

Went past the turnoff before getting out the topographic map, didn't know that, continued 4-5 miles before realizing that we were wrong, then backtracked. One wrong turn on the gravel road, then backtracking to park right on the Georgia-Tennessee border. Went to house on the Tennessee side to ask for permission, but no humans were home, just two dogs. They wagged their tails at us, which we interpreted as permission to enter. Walked east along the fence line, down into a gully, across the small creek, over the fence into Georgia again and up the hill. Assume cadastre respects state lines. A field boundary and fence of the north side almost certainly marked the NC-TN boundary. Marked with a TVA sign about a survey marker. Continued up to the next ridge top to check for buildings shown on the topo map, and they were there, confirming to us that we had been at the tri-state point.
