Here
is Dr. Cope with some of the Geography students and Research
Assistants who participated in this research in Fall 2005.
The
students here are taking Dr. Cope’s course, “Children’s
Urban Geographies”. In this course, we have two regular
classroom meetings every week to discuss assigned readings
on children’s geographies and qualitative research
methods, and each student also completes a weekly ‘lab’
component of the course by working at the after-school program
(the ‘club’) for one afternoon. At the club,
students help children with homework, play games, observe
children’s interactions, and also run their own mini
research projects involving urban space. For some examples
of these projects and to see photos from them, please see
the “Research” and "Media Gallery"
sections of this site.
