In 1999, I
earned a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of
Rochester’s Earth and Environmental Science Department. As an
undergraduate, I participated in the university’s Tuition-Free
Fifth Year (Take Five) Program that allows a student to study
outside of their major. Part of my self-designed scholarship
program, entitled “The Culture, History, and Religion of
Indigenous Peoples,” included integrating classes such as
anthropology, religion, and history and travel to Australia to
study aboriginal culture.
UB’s IGERT program in Geographic Information Science allows me
to continue to integrate a wide range of classes into my
educational experience as well as pursue a Ph.D. degree in
Environmental Engineering. Currently my research interests
include groundwater remediation and modeling, particularly
focusing on the use of temperature data to constrain groundwater
flow models.
I live in Rochester, NY with my wife Rachel, and a strong
neighborhood community of Christian brothers and sisters.
