Seth Spielman is a
geographer and urban planner who works at the intersection
of public health, urban planning, and geographic information
science. He is interested in understanding the
relationships between discretionary land use policy and
social and environmental outcomes at multiple scales. His
research uses computational tools such as data mining, agent
based simulation, and statistics to explore the
relationships between urban environments, public health and
well being, and ecosystems. Seth is also actively
researching the history of enumeration areas in urban social
surveys and is involved in community based planning and
public health projects in Buffalo, NY and New York City.
