Welcome to the UGSA page! We appreciate your interest with the UGSA and hope that you find this page interesting enough to make you want to join in our organization.
But, first your probably wondering just what the UGSA is. The UGSA is a group of students interested in the various disciplines of geography and concerned about the world around them. Members are not required to be geography majors or minors. We exist primarily as a social organization that helps to formulate interest in the discipline of geography as well as create a network toward getting to know fellow geography majors, staff, and even the professors. Oh, and to have fun, of course.
Throughout the year we have many activities planned throughout like hiking, rock climbing, camping, other activities held in the department such as the annual department Christmas Party, the annual Geography Awareness Week in which we have displays in the Student Union and host guest lectures, we have a food drive for a needy family around Christmas, design and sell the department T-Shirts every year, and sponsor our annual trip to the AAG Conference. The list really is endless as to the stuff that we do!
Additionally, the club has membership to National Geographic and keeps all monthly magazines and maps in the office for anyone to read or borrow. We can also help you apply for membership to the Association of American Geographers (the world's foremost professional geography organization there is).
If you ever need to reach one of the officers, please contact us at the Geography Department phone number at: 645-2722. Or you can reach us in our mailbox in the Geography Dept. in Wilkeson or at the Student Association Main Office in the Union.
Once again, we thank you for visiting. And before you go, remember our slogan: Without Geography, Where Would UB???
