Academic Programs
> Graduate > Dual MA/MBA
The School of Management and the Department of Geography offer a two and one-half year degree opportunity leading to a MBA/MA degree with a local certificate in the International Trade Concentration (I.T.C.).
Students interested in this dual degree option must apply to both academic units separately. Upon acceptance to both the School of Management and the Department of Geography, the student gains entrance to the dual degree program. Each candidate in the dual degree program must meet all the requirements of the dual degree curriculum. The combined degree will not be conferred until all requirements for both degrees are met.
Simultaneous admission to both departments is not required. However, keep in mind that the MBA program does not admit students to begin in the Spring semester.

The purpose of the dual degree is as follows:
- To provide graduate students with a formal combined degree option in international business by integrating the special resources of Geography and Management;
- To develop a group of faculty and graduate students who will collaborate on research projects and grant proposals in the area of international trade; and
- To provide a service to the local business community by providing an opportunity for local practitioners to further their educational training.
Waiver Policies
The dual program in Geography and Management (MA Geography/MBA) is designed to emphasize the international aspects of business, trade and industrial location. Because of this focus, students in the dual program are required to complete a minimum of six hours of graduate-level coursework in foreign language and/or international culture. If a student has successfully met this requirement before entering the dual program, he/she may petition the Director of the International Trade Concentration (I.T.C.) in the department of Geography to have those courses approved as satisfying the foreign language/culture requirement. Note that a grade of B or better is required in each of the courses that is included in the petition. In making such a petition, it is the responsibility of the student to provide the necessary documentation (e.g., official college transcripts or other certification) deemed necessary by the Director. If waiver is approved, the student is not required to replace the credit hours.
Calculus Prerequisite
One semester of calculus with a grade of "B" or better, or
two semesters of calculus with grades of "C" or better.
